This is a full-body technique that uses gentle yet firm pressure and rhythmic strokes to direct and encourage the flow of lymph fluids, promoting faster removal of excess interstitial fluid, as well as reducing muscle and neural tension and toxins in your body.

While lymphatic massages are commonly associated with luxurious spa treatments, they are also specialized medical procedures administered by trained professionals. Lymphatic drainage techniques are among the most scientifically documented and efficient hands-on therapeutic tools practiced today.

Our Functional Method differs from others due to its neuro-muscle stimulation technique focused on improving muscular pumping function, thereby making the lymphatic drainage more effective and self-sustainable.

Cleanse From Within

The lymphatic system absorbs fluid, macromolecules, microorganisms, toxins, waste products and foreign substances from the interstitial tissue. Numerous substances (electrolytes, proteins, hormones, toxins, debris) and immuno-competent cells pass through the regional lymph nodes, where this fluid is filtered, purified and concentrated.

The lymphatic flow can stagnate for several reasons, such as swelling, chronic inflammation, lack/ excess of physical activity, stress, fatigue, emotional/ physical shock, age, pregnancy and so on. When lymphatic circulation decreases, the regeneration of cells becomes less effective. This condition allows toxins and proteins to accumulate around the cells, causing cellular oxygenation to decrease and tissue regeneration to diminish.

Improving the flow and drainage of lymphatic system is key to keep your immune system working properly, decrease water retention, improve the general blood circulation, tissue regeneration, muscle function and your overall quality of life. In addition, it encourages your body’s parasympathetic response (rest and digest mode) which will help put you in a relaxed state of mind.

Indications

  • Lymphedema

  • Pregnancy related swelling

  • Pre and post surgery

  • Post-Cancer treatment swelling (e.g. Chemo and radio therapy, mastectomy etc)

  • Injuries

  • Emotional and physical trauma

  • Chronic venous insufficiency

  • Cellulite appearance (by reducing the amount of fluid that presses up against the cross-hatched fibers beneath your skin)

  • Auto-immune diseases

  • Hormonal issues

  • Pre-menstrual syndrome

  • Encourage weight loss

  • Athletic recovery

  • Aesthetic

  • Relaxation

  • Preventive treatment

Contraindications

Despite the benefits, there are some conditions and circumstances where lymphatic drainage massage is not suitable:

  • Certain heart conditions

  • Fever due to infection (bacteria, fungi, viruses).

  • Kidney issues

  • Uncontrolled/ non-medicated high blood pressure

  • Blood clots

  • Active cancer or tumor

Some contraindications may not be total depending on the case. When in doubt or in the presence of any of these conditions, we recommend consulting your physician to confirm eligibility.

How many sessions are recommended?

Lymphatic drainage is a course of treatment that typically involves 5-10 sessions, with no more than a week to 10 days between each session.

The Initial Evaluation involves a comprehensive process to understand the patient's condition and identify past and current factors that may affect lymphatic flow and develop an effective treatment plan tailored to their specific needs and preferences.

During the first sessions, the focus is on decongesting the lymphatic system by preparing and encouraging the drainage of lymph nodes to remove of waste products and toxins from the body.

As circulation and swelling improves, the attention shifts to deeper tissues that will further support the lymphatic health in the long run. In this phase, while the whole body will continue to be approached, special care will be given to target areas in need. Techniques to activate neuromuscular connections are employed to increase muscle fibers recruitment and soft tissue function. By optmising natural pumping mechanisms, the lymphatic flow is continuously encouraged, allowing local metabolic processes to operate more efficiently. As a result, the body is able to access stagnant fat storages and mobilise them for energy in a more uniform way.

Taking a holistic approach not only benefits its performance and appearance, but also promotes a healthy balance.

After achieving our treatment goals, sporadic maintenance sessions are recommended to keep the lymphatic system in check.

Enhance Your Treatment

These simple lifestyle choices can help you boost and maintain the health of your lymphatic system beyond the session:

  • Stay well hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help flush out toxins and waste products from your body.

  • Clean eating: Eating foods that are rich in nutrients, fiber and anti-inflammatory properties help support the immune system, maintain proper fluid balance, promote waste removal and reduce chronic inflammation which crucial to promote optimal lymphatic system function.

  • Be physically active: regular muscles movement/ muscle pumping action stimulates circulation and the movement of immune cells, which are crucial for combating infections and eliminating waste and toxins from the body.

  • Limit processed, foods, refined sugar and sodium/salt: High sodium and processed food intake can lead to toxin buildup and inflammation, which can impair lymphatic fluid circulation and hinder waste removal.

  • Practice deep breathing: Deep breathing acts like a pump that helps move fluid through the vessels and lymph nodes.

  • Avoid smoking and alcohol: Smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can suppress the immune system, introduce toxins into the body, contribute to chronic inflammation, which can damage lymphatic vessels and and inhibit the network's flow.
